Questions
Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common questions about the STEM admission process. Get in touch if you don't find what you're looking for.
What's the difference between the two eligibility cases?
Case 1: If your total Grade 9 average is 98% or higher, you're automatically eligible to apply. You don't need perfect marks in any individual subject.
Case 2: If your average is between 95-98%, you're also eligible, but you must have scored 100% in at least one of: Maths, Science, or English.
When do applications open and close?
The application window opens in mid to late July each year. The exact dates are announced by the Ministry of Education. Mark your calendar and submit early to avoid last-minute issues!
How competitive is the admission process?
STEM schools across Egypt accept only the top performers nationwide. Gharbiya STEM typically receives thousands of applications and accepts only top-ranking candidates. The entrance exam is rigorous—preparation is key.
Can I apply to multiple STEM schools?
Yes! During the application, you rank all 21 STEM schools in Egypt by your preference. If you're accepted, you're assigned to one school based on your ranking and test score. You can't choose your school—placement is based on your ranking and overall competition.
What's the application fee?
The application fee is 150 Egyptian Pounds (L.E.), which goes to the Ministry of Education. You'll receive a bank transfer receipt as proof of payment—keep this with your other documents.
How are results determined?
Your final ranking is based solely on your entrance exam score (not your Grade 9 grades). The exam has 4 sections: Maths, English, Science, and IQ—each with equal weight. Students are ranked nationally by total score.
What if I don't get accepted?
STEM schools no longer maintain waitlists. Acceptance decisions are final—there are no appeals or waitlist positions. We encourage students to reach out to the school counselor for feedback and guidance on alternative pathways.
